May 29th:
Vespers Concert at the Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula in Carmel, CA:
"Mamma's Big Birthday Party", 4:00 PM, free-will offering, followed by dinner-dance fund-raiser.
This happens to be my mom's 70th year, and the crazy diva that she is, she wanted a family concert as her
present, so we all obliged! I played and sang "The Ursula Antiphons" by Hildegard von Bingen, as well as
"Air" by Karl Goldmark, and also performed my first piece combining bass, voice and dance, called
"Wormhole." Terry premiered an electronic piece that also included live trombone and bass and RAP and
used samples of one of my mom's voicemail messages! That was a huge hit.:) My sister Monica (she sings
for movies) sang original country songs while playing the piano, and her daughter Karissa (who sings for
Disney) also sang two songs, while Monica's husband Jim played guitar. My mom and Monica sang
Webber's "Pie Jesu", and my brother-in-law Steve Rushingwind played some beautiful Native American
flute music. He has recently won "Best Song" in the New Mexico music awards! Wow...it was an amazing
concert! Quite varied and fun! Kudos to Terry for being the stage manager!! He was running around like
crazy!!
